先週の金曜日に2回目の通知表が渡されました。幼稚園でも通知表というものは存在し、3学期に分かれてプログレスの評価を詳細にしてくれます。アメリカでは学区によってその評価の方法も様々ですが、通知表というのはこのような感じ。

M: Meets Standards (Proficient)
A student at this level is proficient on the district and state stadards and has mastered skills in phonemic awareness, letter recognition, phonics and concepts of print. Reads familiar text demonstrating one to one correspondence and is able to read some sight words independently. Demonstrates comprehension skills when reading or lestening to stories. Uses descriptive language when dictating thoughts and ideas and is beginning to write independently using letters or phonetically spelled words.
X: Approaching Standards (Basic)
This is a student approaching state and district standards but not yet reaching mastery. Becoming phonemically aware and able to hear syllables in words and produce rhyming sounds. Able to recall events and make predictions about story content. Begins to dictate thoughts and ideas into stories. When writing, uses letters with at least one initial consonant.
/: Beginning standards (Below Basic)
This student is beginning to work on state and district standards. Is becoming aware that print carries meaning. Recognizes the 8 basic colors. Particiates in chanting familiar rhymes. Reconizes some letters of the alphabet and matches some letters to sounds. Listens to stories attentively. Attempts to retell stories with simple words and phrases. Begins to discuss story contents. Expresses him/herself in writing using pictures, scribbles, mock or random letters. Recognizes and attempts to write own name.
N: Below Standards or needs improvement (Far Below Basic)
After much exposure, this student has not made adequate progress toward achieving state and district standards.
というように評価が分かれています。両親はサインをして先生に返却します。日本の通知表と似ていますね。
